Fascial Stretch Therapy at Lift Training Studios

What Is Fascial Stretch Therapy?

Fascial Stretch Therapy (FST) is a table-based assisted stretching therapy.

The FST therapist, Niamh Fitzgerald, manipulates the joints and the fascia around the muscles in a pain free way to optimize performance, increase flexibility, and aid in recovery. The lengthening of the fascia through this assisted stretching technique has immediate and long-term results ranging from alleviating pain to improving posture.

This technique was originally developed by Ann Frederick to help with athletic performance and recovery.

Ann originally created a unique system of neuromyofascial manual therapy called Stretch to Win – Fascial Stretch Therapy ® (STW-FST®) for the USA Men’s Olympic Wrestling Team of 1996. (1)

What is Fascia?

Fascia is a thin casing of connective tissue that surrounds and holds every organ, blood vessel, bone, nerve fiber and muscle in place. (2)

Fascia plays a much larger role in our health than it’s typically given credit for. Check out this Johns Hopkins Article on Muscle Pain: It May Actually Be Your Fascia for more reading.

what do the clients think?

FST is different from anything you’ve done before in the realm of recovery. It’s relaxing, rejuvenating, and pain-free. There are numerous scientific benefits, but my favorite one is that you just feel really good after each session.

But don’t just take my word for it, read the interview below with Fiona Conway, one of our long time and favorite clients, to get an insight on her experience with FST!
